FEATURED TEAM: 96 LADY LIONS

The 96 Lady Lions are a Division 1 team playing for the Lions Futball Club based out of San Antonio, Texas. The club consists of 31 teams with over 400 players. The Lions Futball Club fosters and promotes youth soccer at the highest level of competition for girls and boys in the U11 through U19 age groups. "One, two, three, pride-guts-glory Lions” echoes across the pitch before the 96 Lady Lions Red team takes the field. This single chant unites 14 individual girls into one focused team prepared to compete in the game they love so much. When the final whistle blows, they transform back into normal teenage girls, having fun and bonding with one another in so many ways. The friendships this game creates are truly great to see. This year, the team will embark on their first trip to Schwan’s USA Cup and the girls are very excited. This is an opportunity for San Antonio to showcase the skill and ability of their players to those from other parts of the United States and the world. The trip will also provide a chance for the girls to be ambassadors for the U.S. and the state of Texas. It will also provide them a rare opportunity to learn about different cultures yet understand the common bond they share with others, which is the love of soccer. The team is looking forward to bonding with each other, representing Texas, meeting new players from the US and world and seeing the Mall of America.

 

 

To help reach their goal of getting to Minnesota, the team is working hard to raise money with many fundraisers, ranging from BBQ dinners to bake sales, car washes, raffle tickets, pancake breakfasts and much more. The one thing motivating the girls to keep working and fund raising is that all of this hard work will be worth this trip of a life time.
