Counting down to USA CUP 2019: The 35th annual tournament will welcome referees from 17 countries

Kick-off for the 35th annual USA CUP soccer at the National Sports Center in Blaine is just three weeks away. This year’s tournament, set for July 12-20, is tracking to attract close to 1,200 teams from 20 different countries.

But the international dynamic of the tournament can also be seen among the corps of referees. Among the nearly 500 referees expected to attend, 17 countries will be represented.

Neressa Goldson and Oneal Clayton of Jamaica, at USA CUP 2018. Both will return to referee at this year's tournament.

Here’s the country line-up for referees at the 2019 tournament:

Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, England, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Mexico, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Sweden, and the U.S.

Interestingly, Chile, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Romania and Scotland will send referees, but not teams.

Luiz Gonzaga Monteiro de Faria Junior of Brazil will also return to officiate at USA CUP 2019.
